Rationales:
This online curriculum utilizes the McClusky Theory of Margin involving the change and integration of balance between energy needed in learning (Biney, 2021). Adults live with a constant change with balancing their margin or reserve energy. This is calculated by the load that adult learners carry versus the power that they have. The load and power involve the internal and external forces revolved around the responsibilities and assistance of adults (Merriam & Caffarella, 1999). (Finding strategies to address unforeseen challenges, such as stress and anxiety, is crucial for enhancing one's quality of life. Following these modules ensure that adults experience ongoing growth with mindfulness while demanding a consistent effort towards fulfilling everyday responsibilities.
For this program, addressing mental well-being is achieved by incorporating moments for reflection and mindfulness, contributing to this theory. Implementing moments of reflection within each session and module of this program will help emphasize the importance of creating mental space for this practice. This theory suggests that individuals need mental space to effectively reflect on experiences and engage in meaningful learning. The modules include moments of reflection, emphasizing the significance of mental space, adopting a holistic approach to mental well-being, and incorporating feedback and adaptation. Since people have less than perfect control over many aspects of their life, they must find ways to be prepared to meet unpredictable problems (Hiemstra, 2002). Becoming more prepared for stress management helps with the unpredictable and inevitable problems we face as adults. (Tell us how these you described relate to load and power? Bo)
